Block Party

It is traditional in the Palm Shadows RV Park for each of the streets in the Park to have a "Block Party" as the season begins to wind down. Here it is, the early part of March and many of the Winter Texan residents are beginning to think about returning to their homes up North . . . a few have already left.

Today was the date for a "Block Party" on our block. There are about 65 occupied lots on our street, presumably with two people per lot. So we had a pretty good turnout of 84 people.

Everyone brought a dish . . . and there are some pretty good cooks on our street . . . we had an impressive array of food.

The temperature was in the 80's and the sun was bright, but the wind was pretty strong. Strong enough to make it uncomfortable . . . it was necessary to hold on to anything light to keep the wind from blowing it away.

Everyone brought chairs and a small table (or their lap) to set a plate on, and a covered dish.

In the picture below, Carole is frowning in the wind and that's our next door neighbors, Harold & Sandy Crabtree from Colorado, setting next to Carole. They've already finished eating.

After everyone had their fill, and many had more than their fill, we all just sat around and socialized until the wind got the best of us. Then everyone returned to their unit, but it was a good "Block Party" in spite of the wind.
