More About The Wall

My brother, Ron, had not seen any portion of The Wall along the Texas border with Mexico even though he lives in Texas. He wanted to see his tax dollars at work, so we set off for points on the Texas border where The Wall is readily visible in several places. In most places it is only partially completed, still under construction. The US side is generally filled with dirt to the top of The Wall with a roadway on top, presumably so the Border Patrol can drive down the top of The Wall. If it's like other sections, there will be steel girders constructed on top of The Wall shown here.

While we were in the area, we stopped at the Riverside Club for lunch . . . only to discover they had a large private party to serve and would not be able to get to us for an hour or so. So we left and went downstream a half-mile to Pepe's On the River. We had lunch and a few drinks while we watched the traffic on the river.

We then drove to another location where The Wall is under construction. It is not continuous . . . the plans call for it to only be constructed in some places . . . it runs for a distance, then stops, and resumes again a mile or two away. In some places it is a hundred yards or so from the border, in other places it is up to a mile from the border, depending on the meanderings of the Rio Grande.

Ron was duly impressed that his tax dollars are indeed being wasted!
